The Orion StarShoot Solar System Color Imager IV is equipped with features that make it easy to take your own pictures of objects in our solar system. Its 1/3 inch format CMOS imaging sensor with a 1280 x 1024 pixel layout can take sharply detailed planetary and lunar astrophotos. Each pixel is a mere 3.6� m x 3.6µm in size for exceptional image resolution in 24-bit RGB color. Since the 8-bit output StarShoot Solar System Color Imager IV is progressive scan, all pixels will be used for each and every exposure. At full 1280 x 1024 resolution, you can capture up to 15 frames per second. By stacking multiple exposures to create a single picture, you can increase image detail significantly. The Imager's 1.25inch nosepiece is threaded for 1.25 inch filters, so you can use astrophotography filters and color visual filters to enhance your shots. Orion 52175 StarShoot Solar System Color Imaging Camera IV (Black) Review

This was the first astrophotography camera I purchased. I chose it for the price because I wanted an inexpensive camera to try solar astrophotography. At $99 I think it is a good value. I use it with a Lunt 60mm H-Alpha solar scope, mounted on an Orion AstroView EQ mount. It is easy to use and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Patience is required, and the instructions keep things simplified. The camera software and image processing can get complicated, and the system can do a lot more (image enhancements) than is covered in the instructions. But the simplified instructions were good for a beginner like me. I'm posting this review after the first day's use. I did not contact Orion for technical support, but they have always been helpful in the past, and I would not hesitate to contact them if I wanted their help. I like tinkering first.

When using for solar imagining, ambient light leaked into the camera from the rear LED window. I used some foil and tape to block this out, but I bought it for solar imagining, so I deducted a star for this! For night imaging it probably would not be a problem.

Learning to use Registax is essential, and I recommend looking for tutorials on YouTube. Without using Registax you will be disappointed in the images. Registax (or other stacking software) is the key to using a modified webcam for astroimagining. The instructions do not cover stacking, but tell you were to go for help.

The instructions suggest learning the system in a lighted environment for the first session. I think this is essential. It would be a nightmare learning everything in the dark. Also, the instructions stress that focusing is the hardest part to learn. Patience and trial/error is a must. Also, a laptop works great in room lighting, but using it outdoors in the sun, or in the dark, both present challenges for focusing. Be patient!

Software might have a few minor bugs when running on XP. I'm not certain it is the Orion software; it could be my PCs. But I tried on two PCs (with XP on both) and had some quirks. First, AmCap crashed (not responding) on startup about 50% of the time. After a few uses, I uninstalled and reinstalled. This seemed to resolve most issues. Also, on both PCs, I found that it was best to plug in the camera and let the PC recognize it before launching AmCap. If I launched AmCap and then plugged in the camera, it seemed to cause problems. Note: the camera LED does not come on until the camera is running with AmCap. When idle on USB power (and AmCap closed) the LED is out.

  So far after 1 day it's been great. Using it as my primary internet source in a rural area with no cable or dsl available with a LG VL600 from Verizon. I had been using a laptop with internet connection sharing, plugged into my router. But then the laptop had to on 24/7 plugged into the router.
  
  So far on the cradlepoint Ive gotten slightly faster d/l speeds than on the laptop using with verizon access manager, as high as 212k/second connecting at 3G, I never got over about 180k before. Our home is just outside 4G coverage. I can't comment on the built-in wireless, I have it disabled since I already have a wireless N network with GB wired, so I am basically using this for a USB modem to ethernet adapter.
  
  Set up and configuration only took about 2 minutes, but remember it's easier to write down you default password off the bottom before you hook it up and plug it in.
  
  Update: Now Ive had it for a week it's not as great. I have to keep rebooting it once a day or more, the internet will totally stop but according to the router, it's working fine. Only way to get it working is unplug it or reboot it from the management page. When I had the same modem on a laptop, it worked fine, never lost connection or had to reboot.

I was looking for a external HDD that had USB 3.0 for storing all my digital photos and somehow landed on this product. At first I was a bit shaky since I never knew Samsung made hard drives. I thought they were mostly gadgets and TVs.

Anyway, I was sold on the price. The drive is super quiet and transfers are really fast! It's been running really smoothly and no issues so far! *crosses fingers*

Do wish the included cable was a bit longer, but micro USB cables are cheap enough for me to easily replace it.

HP Pavilion p6-2330 Desktop (Black) Review

There are many reviews from buyers who are only rating the operating system (Windows 8) and not the actual computer. For people who are looking for a review of the actual PC (not just the OS), you should be pleased to know that this computer is GREAT!

I originally purchased this computer on black friday for $379, and with all the features the computer comes with, especially the HDD and RAM space, it was a steal.

After many weeks of using this computer, I am more than pleased with its performance. I gave it 5 stars simply because this computer will not disappoint. Here are the aspects that I really like about this computer.

== PROS ==

(1) REALLY FAST START UP: After the first time turning it on, it quickly went through the start up process in which it booted windows and took my info. Very easy process. There are many unnecessary programs that come pre installed with any new PC, so after uninstalling all of the trial apps that came pre loaded with the unit, the computer literally starts up in seconds!

(2) ITS QUIET: You can barely hear the computer when its on, there is no noise from the fan that I can hear. You may even forget its on - thats how quiet it is. Its great if you need to turn on the computer without waking anyone.

(3) THE SPECS: Like I said before, for the price I paid for the unit ($379), 1 TB hard drive space plus 6GB of RAM is a steal. This unit also has WIFI, so I have it connected to all of my devices on our home network, it even connects to the printer wirelessly.

(4) FAST: Did I mention its fast? With all the RAM space, running apps to surfing the web to playing music and watching videos, everything is done with top notch speed.

(5) COMPATIBILITY: Almost every program that worked on previous versions of Windows should work like a charm on Windows 8

(6) MULTIPLE PORTS: There are multiple USB 2.0 ports in the front of the PC, and two USB 3.0 ports in the back of the unit. I also have the Logitech Z313 Speaker System attached to the audio port in the back which also works flawlessly

== CONS ==

There arent many faults about this computer! The only fault I saw is the removal of the "start button" in the Windows 8 operating system.

(1) NO "START" BUTTON: This is a setback i've seen in many reviews of Windows 8, but there is a solution to this "problem." If you dont like the new start menu in Windows 8, you can download a free app which restores the start button that we all know and love! I have been using it since purchasing this PC, and it works like a charm! The app is called "StartMenu8" (iobit[dot]com/iobitstartmenu8[dot]php) which is produced by a company called "IOBIT." This app is really useful to anyone who wants the functionality of the old Start Button in Windows, it really works! It essentially brings back the taskbar to the way it looks in Windows 7!

I had to write a review for this PC because I saw too many were reviewing only one aspect of the unit (the operating system), but that doesnt do this computer any justice! I love this desktop and I hope you buy it too. I bought it when it had no reviews and I'm glad I did. The price for this unit has increased since the time that I purchased it, but for what its worth, its a great PC. If you do not like the way the new Windows 8 looks with the removal of the Start Button, there are alternatives to bringing it back, as mentioned in my review! So overall, this is a great PC, if you are on the edge in deciding, JUST BUY IT, you will not regret it!
