The sturdy construction and heavy base give you peace of mind that your monitors are secure. The ability to modify your configuration and adjust/reposition the monitors is great. For mounting my 19" wide on top and 23.5" wide flat panels on the bottom, I removed one segment on each arm so they would sit closer to the wall on my shallow (24" deep) desk. I bought 4 washers at the hardware store to snug up the main joint for use without the longer arms on top. The whole thing will put your screens right in your face otherwise, but if you are using 24" or greater screens this stand will handle them with ease. You have the choice to bolt the thing right into your desk if you prefer, but the base is substantial enough to support today's lighter LED flat panels with ease so I did not. The only drawback I have faced is that the gel pad underneath the weighted base rolled up a bit while I was determining the final position on my desk. Otherwise, this thing is almost infinitely adjustable and very well-made. I would recommend this stand for anyone using solid furniture with any ornamentation around the desktop edges in order to avoid rigging up an awkward clamp or drilling into your nice desk. Great value vs some stands I priced for $100 more.
