My laptop is a 3 year old Acer that I bought from Amazon. Its a fantastic PC that has never given me any problems but as with all computers, it started to age earlier on this year. Nothing too big, just noticed that it took 2 minutes to start up and opening programs took longer than it used to.

I thought that a quick fix to this would be to upgrade my ram because in the past that usually did the job. My laptop had 4 gigs and I doubled that to 8. Unfortunately that didn't really do much because windows 7 64 bit runs very well on 4 gigs and upgrading to 8 gigs doesn't really change much.

The only other option was to upgrade to an SSD. After careful searching, I ended up buying this model over Cybermonday and I gotta tell you, MASSIVE difference. All of a sudden my computer turns on in about 8 seconds, applications launch near instantaneously, my laptop makes barely any noise, battery life is extended, and best of all it doesn't heat up as much anymore so I can sit with the laptop in my lap without burning my legs.

Installation was a snap, I bought the Apricorn SATA to USB cable with cloning software from amazon ( [...] ) and just followed their instructions. Then I swapped the hard disk in my laptop with the SSD, took about 4 hours in total (3.9 hours to close the data and about 3 minutes to swap out the hdd with the sdd).

If you're considering buying a new laptop because your old one has gotten slow, consider just upgrading to a solid state drive and you'll save yourself a TON of money. Seriously, its like having a brand new computer. I can't recommend it highly enough.
