The Xerox 6500N is a solid color laser printer. The color resolution is exceptional for the price, offering near-photographic quality. The cost of ownership is quite low, with 4 separate color cartridges you only need to replace the color you run out of.

There are a few very small things to keep in mind with this printer:

1. Although it has a rather small form factor, it's very heavy for its size.
2. It's quite a bit louder than most laser printers. If you keep this in your office, place it as far away from a telephone as possible.
3. The USB port works perfectly and is lightning fast. If you run this as a workgroup printer on a network, though, be aware that there's a bug in the network printer driver. If the printer is on your network and the printer has gone into power-saver mode, about one print job in ten will fail to "wake up" the printer, and the print job will time out with an error. That can be frustrating, but Xerox is usually very good about correcting this sort of bug and it's a fairly new model printer.

Overall, a very good choice for the budget-conscious office.
