I live in an apt in NYC, and there are old coax cables linking each room. I didn't want to have cat5 cables running around, and I didn't want to drill new holes through walls (the coax cables pass through holes cut long ago and sealed with caulk). So, I found these adapters and tried them out.

They worked right away. According to my Network Connection Manager (Win 7 Ultimate), I'm getting 100 Mbps. I didn't run any speed tests (yet), but my normal browsing (e-mail, you-tube, steam, etc) was fine. I didn't notice any speed degradation.

So, I would definitely recommend this product if you want to re-use existing coax cables.
