MSI NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 Ti 3GB GDDR5 OC 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video CardMSI NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 Ti 3GB GDDR5 OC 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card N660TI TF 3GD5/OC Review
Have had this card for over a week now, so absolute stability can be questionable but so far quite stable. I did a 15 minute burn in test, but this new gpu design wont get fully stressed in furmark, it wont hit its 1110 MHz boost, so pay some mind to that factor. I went with the 3GB version because i had two 460 1gb's in SLI which could run BF3 on ultra with plenty of fps, but....not enough vram, so it would stutter badly and slam the 1 gig cap the moment i loaded a map. Now bf3 has plenty of space, seen it get up around 2 gigs at 1920 by 1080 on ultra,60 plus fps up to about 120 in confined spaces, everything maxed, gameplay is smooth as butter even if lower fps due to that extra ram. One nice thing i noticed, if you alt tab and tab back into a game, its instant, now locking up for a few seconds due to the space it can load the textures now ^^ If you only ever plan on just 1 card until next gen or 2 gens after this series you can go with the 2gb version, no biggie, but if u plan to SLI and have peace of mind with extra vram or much higher resolutions, go bigger space, just remember the extra ram is not going to add more fps, it just gives it plenty of room to proccess what it has.Power usage has dropped nicely from the SLI 460's i used to eat about 700 to 800 watts, fro the wall, with my server (only eats 130) and the main rig when the system is under load, now its 470 to 500 with this one card. Server off the card on desktop eats about 180 to 190 watts, now that includes three 200 MM fans, and two 140 mm fans with two 7200 RPM drives, raptor 10k rpm and a SSD drawing power also. Load with gaming rig is around 350 watts in game. Another amazing thing i did not expect though about this card, its darn quiet, I DO NOT HEAR IT IN GAME, and my oh my do i love that, the 460's with the aftermarket coolers i heard under load, not this card, love it. Highest temp i've yet to hit is 62C while running unigine to give a benchmark for this review. Haven't had a higher temyet!
Unigine settings are as follows. this is version 3.0 basic
FPS: 97.3 (avg)
Score 2450 (compared to a rig with two 570's he got 2880)
Min fps 39.2
Max fps: 216.2
Settings, Render dirtx 11
Mode: 1920x 1080 full screen
Shaers High
Textures High
Filter Trilinear
Anisotropy 4x
Occlusion enabled
refraction Enabled
Volumentric Enabled
Tessellation Disabled.
