Product Description

SAPPHIRE HD 7970 3GB Vapor-X Edition has the latest GDDR5 memory clocked at 6000MHz effective, and runs with a core clock speed of 1000 MHz which with Power Tune Dynamic Boost rises to 1050 MHz on the engine. It has a slightly less sophisticated 8-phase power design and the versatile output configuration of Dual-link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI and Display Port. The Vapor-X cooler is based on a new vapor chamber designed especially for this series. Heat is carried away by four heat pipes (2 x 8mm plus 2 x 6mm), and finally dispersed by two 90mm fan with aerofoil blades and dust repelling bearings. The Vapor-X cooler easily handles the heat generated from the HD 7970 GHz Editions even under extreme load conditions.

I've been running this card for about a week now. I'm very happy.

Pro's
This card runs BF3 and MOH W, on 1920x1080, with max settings, averaging over 100 FPS. It was easy to Over Clock with AMD Overdrive Tools in the Catalyst software. Mine runs 1200MHz on the GPU clock and 1600 on the Memory Clock with no issues, and 64�C is the max temp I have seen.

Con's
The fans get loud at about 70%, but I only hit that speed by using the manual override option. I had to uninstall the driver and disable the device for the onboard Intel HD Graphics on my 3770K, in the device manager, before the AMD Catalyst software would install successfully.
