I purchased this, NOT FOR AN iPOD UPGRADE... but for a Dell D430, as this is the only size drive I can get for it. The pricing is insane for this dead technology, thanks to Apple, continuing to use it within their hardware, and those who want to buy a 30GB Apple iPod Video, and upgrade to 128GB.

Immediately out of the box, using the preexisting IDE ZIF cable, the drive was detected and I was able to clone over my old drive.

Transfer rates are exorbanently higher than my old drive, from 15/20MB/s to 75MB/s. If I'm reading windows right, the drive even supports TRIM.

Running Windows 7, the drive is flawless. The only gripe I have is that the hard drive light is on solid, and does not blink. I believe I read somewhere that this is a flaw of replacing the toshiba drive with an SSD in my particular system. I don't think its necessarily the drive.

If you have this kind of money, and want to keep your D430 going, buy the drive. It's changed the way I compute, commute, and travel.
