I bought this unit because I wanted to store all of my files with raid redundancy in case of drive failure. This unit has many other features like the ability to access your files from the web securely using apps on my mobile devices or through a browser. I had read a review recommending that you upgrade the memory to the max (additional 2gb) RAM. I bought a "Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3 1333MHz SODIMM Notebook Memory (KVR1333D3S8S9/2G)" instead of the Qnap memory and it works great no issues. One of the other features I really love is the ability to store movie ISOs on the NAS and play the movies thru the HMDI interface straight to my TV.
