I purchased this unit for my aging mother, She can now listen to the TV without having the whole neighborhood listening along. We can now have a private conversation when we are in a public area. The fact that the unit is stereo also gives her a sens of direction. She finds the unit amazing but feels a little discomfort because of the pressure it applies on her ears, (she has never worn headphones before).
